Fitting Inside the Window Reveal
Measure the Length
Measure from the top of the reveal to the sill in several places, as windows may not be perfectly square. Choose the measurement that best suits your space—this will be your finished length.Measure the Width
Measure the narrowest point of the reveal and subtract 1 cm to allow for a 5 mm clearance on each side. This gives your finished width.Select the Mechanism
Decide which side the operating mechanism will be on. Ensure the blind is clear of window handles to avoid obstruction. For some windows, the blind may need to be fixed to the ceiling of the reveal.
Note: Complete blackout will not be achieved with inside-fit blinds.
Fitting Outside the Window Reveal
Decide the Position
The top of the blind typically looks best 10 cm above the reveal. For the bottom, the hem usually falls 5–15 cm below the sill, or at the sill if it projects. Measure in several places to determine the finished length.Measure the Width
Measure the reveal width, then decide how far the blind should overhang beyond the reveal (usually at least 5 cm per side). This gives your finished width. Check for obstructions before finalizing.Select the Mechanism
Choose which side the operating mechanism will be on.
